AQS Quilt Show and Contest in Paducah, KY

Wayne and I went to the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah from April 26-30. I have always wanted to go to this show which is one of the 2 best shows in the county. This was the 27th annual show with over 500 quilts,350 vendors and national teachers for Quilting School. We arrived in Nashville on April 26 and drove to a town about 35 miles from Paducah called Kuttawa. I was worried about the severe weather that this part of the country has been having before we got here. We were in a tornado watch most of Tuesday night with wild thunder/lightning, heavy rain and wind. Wednesday night was the same but the weather much better Thursday-Saturday with sunny skies and mild temps. The main problem was flooding with the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers. Paducah has a flood wall around the downtown. The convention & Expo is by the floodwall/river so the Quilt Show couldn't be held there. They almost canceled but their are quilters from all over the country and the world that were coming plus this event is huge for the economy of this area. They moved the main quilts(best of show, category winners and bed quilts), and main vendors to the Pavillion "Bubble". The classes were held at the First Baptist Church with wall and category winners. The rest of the quilts and vendors went to empty building which were Circuit City and Offife Max. They did a great job at the last minute. I will show some pictures of the flood wall and levies. The pictures on the wall were great with history of Paducah.
