This Saturday is National Quilting Day to celebrate quilting in the USA. I'm so glad I learned how to quilt 10 years ago. It is the most fun hobby to have in my life. I finished a small wall hanging last week and finished a twin size quilt today. The twin size quilt was my 2nd quilt done on the Pfaff Grandquilter 18.8. This was a perfect week to quilt because of the stormy wet weather. It was great therapy for me after having bad week at work(last week).
I have a few quilting quotes that I like about quilting:
1) I work for fabric.
2)When life goes to pieces try quilting
3)When life gives you scrapes-make a quilt
4)May all of your ups and downs in life be with a needle and thread
I will post some pictures of my latest quilts soon.
Happy Quilting!!
I'm Irish so will celebrate St Patricks's Day too.

It's a New Day

This has been a very hard week for me because of my job. I feel that I'm doing the best job I can do under alot of stress/hardwork/long hours but it isn't good enough. I'm lucky to have a supportive husband and my quilting. Quilting helps me relax and feel better about myself. I'm going to keep a postive attitude and postive thoughts.
Happy March
Hooray, I'm glad it is March and that spring is around the corner. I was off all last week so put my 1st quilt on my new Pfaff Grandquilter 18.8. It was so much fun using the Quilt Artist to design the quilting on it. It was great to have a much BIGGER area to doing quilting on it. I used variegated thread and had no problems with breakage or tension on backing. I can't wait to put another quilt on the machine. I will post a few pictures of the quilt.

Machine Quilting Pfaff 18.8 Grandquilter
I put my 1st quilt on my new 18.8 Grandquilter today. I have been practicing on a solid piece of materical for the last month. I learned to do free motion and to use the Quilt Artist. It has been a fun learning process. I did the border and the 1st row with the Quilt Artist and it was so much fun. It is going to be so much fun to plan out the quilting on all my quilts. I will post pictures of the quilt when I finish it. I worked on put labels on several quilts that I didn't do when I finished them yesterday. It is important to put labels on your quilts. This is the quilt top that I put on the frame today. Happy Quilting!!!

Happy February/Leap Year.
I have been learning how to use my Pfaff Grandquilter 18.8 and the Quilt Artist in the past several weeks. It is going to be so much fun. I have been practicing on a piece of fabric. I will practice more and then put a small quilt that I have ready to quilt. I love my lighting that my wonderful husband placed over the machine. It is great. I took a few pictures of the quilt machine in the studio.
I finished the 2 projects that I did at the quilt retreat. I have the binding to put on them. I brought these kits when I was in Houston.
1) Love in Bloom which is in Christmas fabric
2) Patchwork Table Runner Kit by Donna Jordan
I finished the binding on my quilt called Breaking Waves in January. I brought this kit at Hancocks of Paducah when we were there in April. It was on sale for $39.00!!!
I worked on the binding at the retreat too.
I made a Christmas runner from the pattern called Spice Rack "New Leaf Stitches" and Christmas mini mat called Joy Mini Mat by Patrick Lose in Fons and Porter Quilting Celebrations. I didn't have time to make anything for Christmas so worked on these in January. Here is a few pictures of the quilt machine.

Oregon Garden Stitches in Bloom Quilt Show
My friend,Paige and I went to the Oregon Gardens which is located in Silverton for the quilt show. I don't know if this is the 3rd year for the show but was my 1st time to it. The quilts were outstanding but the show was very disappointing. I have been to many quilt shows locally and nationally and have never been disappointed as I was of this show. The space for the show was terrible. They had quilts and vendors in a small building which made it very crowded and hard to see the quilts. The lighting was bad and you couldn't take flash photography. I have been to many of quilt shows that it wasn't a problem to use flash so was unable to take pictures of the quilts. It would have been almost impossbile to take a pictures anyway because of the crowded area to view the quilts. The description of the quilt were so small to read without reading glasses. The other building was smaller yet. The quilt show cost $10.00 which was high too. I wasn't disappointed in the quilts at all. I wished I could have enjoyed them more but it was to crowded. It was very disappointing and will never go to it again.
