Greenbaum's Winter Quilt Retreat
Last weekend, my friend Paige and I went to the Greenbaum's winter quilt retreat at the Shilo Inn in Newport. We went last year and had a wonderful time. Last year the weather was very stormy with high winds, rain and flooding. This year it was absolute fanastic with sunny skies, temp in the mid to high 50's and no wind. The retreat starts on Fri-Sun but we decided to come on Thurs. We were able to set up our sewing machines etc that night for the next day. There were 76 quilters with 8 to a table. This year we both had a small ironing board that attached to the table and portable iron. It gave us more room and the easy of ironing without having to get up and use their iron. We decided to go to The Chowder Bowl for dinner on Thur and Fri. Sat evening is the dinner with all of us in the resturant. They had 6 gift baskets to win like last year which I was lucky to win last year. NO LUCK this year.
I was able to get a table runner and pillowcase done and started on a new quilt. It was great to work on some of my projects which I haven't been able to do due to getting a customer quilt and church banner done. We had a fanastic oceanview room on the 3rd floor. You could see the crab boats out on the ocean and the lighthouse. We took something for breakfast and lunch to save money. It was great to eat in the room with our beautiful view. We were able to sew on Sunday this year as last year we left early due to weather. We had to check out by 12:00 and left at about 1:00. We ate at The Chowder Bowl before heading home. We decided to go next year and Paige paid my $25.00 desposit as my B-Day gift. It is great to have a friend that is fun and enjoys sewing/quilting. I have posted a few pictures of the retreat. Happy Happy Quilting
