Happy Birthday
I'm enjoying turning 62 today. I'm very blessed to have a wonderful family and friends. It is great to have quilting in my life because of the wonderful quilter friends that I have made and to be able to express my creativity. Our quilt guild(Mid Valley Quilt Guild) is having their Quilt Show starting tomorrow thru Sat. I entered 2 art quilts and 1 wall size quilt. I'm going to be a hostess/white glove quilter for the show on Thurs and Fri from 9-12. It should be a lot of fun. More pictures and news on the Quilt Show later.
We will celebrate my B-Day with my friends Paige, Lee, Mike and of course my wonderful husband Wayne at Red Lobster. Wayne and I are going to McMinnville for his dentist appt and I'm going to Boesma's to shop for fabric. You get 25% off on your birthday!!! It is a beautiful day with sunny skies and temp in the mid 70's. Life is Good!!

Happy April
I love April because it is my birthday month and it is Spring. I finished 2 projects in the last 2 months. I took a class with Melinda Bula in July 2011 at Sisters. It was a 2 days class called Zinnia. I was able to get almost done and finished it at home in August 2011. I don't believe in having UFO's but my Zinnia finally got finished with the thread play in March. It took me 2 weeks every day to get all the colors done. I wanted to get it finished to take to Sisters this year to show Melinda. I'm taking her 2 days class called Hibiscus in July. I love her classes and was unable to take her class in Houston in 2011. I was able to show her my Coneflower that I did and she loved it. I'm very pleased with my Zinnia. I used Sulky Rayon thread which made the flower power pop on it.
Here are a few pictures of my Zinnia.

Guest speaker at MVQG Nancy Brown
Last week, we had a guest speaker for our quilt guild was Nancy Brown. She lives in Oakland, CA. Nancy makes pictorial quilts with animals by hand applique and hand quilting. I volunteered to host guest speaker for the quilt guild. She loves animals so stayed with my husband and our 2 pets Maddie(golden retriever) and Sassy(the cat). I picked her up at the airport on Tues afternoon. I knew what she looked like because I saw her on The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson. We had dinner at our house that night with homemade lasagna, home grown green beans, salad, garlic bread and margarita lime pie.
Wed is the guild meeting at 9:30am and 6:00pm. She had several quilts to show and was able to put some up on the quilt display stands. Her lecture was super amazing and very fun. Several quilters told her after her lecture that love it and that she could be a stand up comedian. Everyone loved the lecture and her quilts. I helped her set up and assist with selling patterns and note cards. She enjoyed our meeting with the business of our Quilt show coming up in April and our money situation. She loved the Show and Tell. After the morning meeting, we went back home to see if my husband wanted to go to lunch with us(he decided not to go). We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant at about 1:30 and then to my local quilt shop Grandma's Attic. We had a 2 hour rest time before we left for the evening meeting. We didn't get home until 9:00 and had a piece on pie. We didn't go to bed until 10:45.
Thurs, was the Dog and Cat Workshop from 9-3:30. There were about 20 quilters in the class to learn about applique and how to do your pets quilt. I was out of my comfort zone because I don't know anything about applique. I meet a quilter Jean that had never applique so we learned together with the help of Nancy. You only had a 1/2hr for lunch so most of us went to McDonalds next door. I enjoyed the class and learned how to applique. I got the base of the cat done which was my goal. She said you wouldn't get the cat or dog done by the end of class anyway.
The class ended at 3:30 with clean up and out by 4:00. Another member was taking her back to the airport so I said my goodbye. It was a wonderful experience to meet her and to hear and see about her beautiful quilts. My husband, Wayne got to see her quilts and was amazed with them. Maddie and Sassy loved having her as our guest. More about Nancy on my next post.

Happy National Quilting Day
I'm going to celebrate National Quilting Day by going to Trends at EE Schencks today. My friend, Paige and I are going to Portland and stay overnight at the Oxford Suites near Jantzen Beach. This is the spring trade show for EES. It should be fun and hope to win door prizes.
Quilting has been a great postive in my life. It has been a great stress reliever and lets me be very creative.
Happy Quilting Everyone!!!
