Happy July

It is 6 months from today that I will go per diem at work. I have worked as a nurse for 38 years most full time. I have been working part time since 2002. I will be able to draw SS in April 2013. It is more money but no benefits with per diem. I have to sign up for only 4 days a month(8 or 12 hour shift) The 4 days includes one weekend. You have to do 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday. In the next 6 months, we have to check about insurance, how much you can make with drawing SS and starting a quilting business. I'm really looking forward to have more flex time and to be able to go camping more next year. I really want to expand on quilting and looking forward to start a computerized quilting service. Hopefully, this month I can get back to making several quilts and using my quilt machine. Happy 4th of July!!

Happy Summer

It is hard to believe that June is always over and 4th of July is next Wed. I did get my quilt called Hokey Pokey done on the quilt machine. I put the binding on it last week and will work on it on our camping trip to South Beach State Park this coming week(Mon-Thurs). This is our 1st camping trip. We have never celebrated the 4th of July over at the coast. The fireworks are going to be on a barge in the middle of the bay at Newport. I did take a class at Grandma's Attic on June 1 called Applefest which was paper piecing. I had hope to get back to making the blocks this week but no luck due to work, guild meeting and gardening. I will take pictures of my new quilt. I have a new blog called Quilting at Mistletoe Hollow which is going to be about starting my computerized quilting service. I will start writing on it next month. In May we went to see my brother, Randy and my sister-in-law, Mary in Wilton,CA. Mary is a quilter and is doing more quilt art. She made a quilt from Ruth McDowell class last year at Asilomar. She finished it this year to show her at Asilomar this year. She called it The Red Chair. It is so beautiful. I will post a few pictures of it.

Flowers

More pictures of my flower gardens.

Gardening

The weather was been great for my flower gardens. It was cool and rainy all of May and part of June. I took several pictures of my roses. Here is a few of them.

Happy 2nd Birthday Maddie

Our golden retriever Maddie Mae turned 2 years old on June 2. I had a dog Nikki when I was a kid we always had a birthday party for him. I would invite all the neighborhood kids over to our house. We had it on our patio with a table and chairs. Nikki would sit on a folding chair at the head of the table. We have cake and ice cream. It was alot of fun and my friends loved it. I wanted to have her birthday party on the deck but it was to cool and rainy. We got her a huge bag on tennis balls and a squeaky toy(hedgehog). She wanted to get every tennis ball and broke the squeaker in the hedgehodge. I will post a few pictures of her.

Happy June

I can't believe that June is half over. It has been very busy with my father-in-law here from mid May and left this past Tues. I haven't had time and plus I didn't have pictures to post with my blog. I took a class at Grandma's Attic on June 1 with my friend Paige and Diane. It was called Applefest with was paper piecing. It was from 10-4. It was alot of fun and to learn how to paper piece.I haven't had time to get back to making more apples but hope to next week. Maddie's Birthday was June 2 but we celebrated on June 4. She turned 2 years old. We had a party for her with cake and ice cream. I will post a few pictures of her birthday party.

Busy May

It has been a very busy month. We went to see my brother Randy and my sister-in-law Mary in Wilton,CA on May 1-7. We drove which takes about 10-11 hours. We really enjoyed our stay and had great weather. Mary is a quilter and will have to post some of her recent projects. She gave me a lesson in paper piecing as I'm taking a paper piecing class at Grandma's Attic on June 1. I got some back issues of Quilters Newsletter on Ebay and got the pattern for our class called Applefest. The weather has been great since getting home and have been working on outdoor projects. It was to wet and cool to plant flowers or garden. I have been getting our outdoor furniture out and cleaning the deck and our plastic white fence in the front yard. I finally found some perineals to plant today. Next week it is suppose to rain so will try to do some quilting.I need to get ready for my paper piecing class. It should be alot of fun. Paige and Diane are taking the class with me. This is the 2nd paper piecing class I have taken so need a refresher.
