New Puppy Dog Bed

We are going to get a new golden retreiver puppy in July. I found a cute pattern in Quick Quilts Summer 2010 called Puppy Bliss. I made the 4 patch cover instead of the round. It was easy to make for her. I love the fabric I had in my stash. I'm making a small quilt for her which I started today.

Happy 25th Anniversary and 40th High School Reunion

Wayne and I got married 25 years ago today in Denver CO. We got married outside a hot air balloon and then took a beautiful ride along the foothills. We had a champagne brunch at our house in Aurora CO with our family and friends. We are very lucky to have each other and enjoy living in Oregon for the last 9 years.
On June 2, 1970 I graduated from Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Nebraska. This is the 4oth reunion but will not be going to the reunion. I have been in touch with a few high school friends via Facebook.

May Flowers

It has been very nice spring weather for the last week. The iris is blooming which I love. Yesterday, we went to the coast for the 1st time without a dog. Mandy would have been 11 years old yesterday. We had a nice day but missed her. I haven't been quilting since losing Mandy. It has been a rough 2 weeks at work. I need to get out of nursing but will have to wait until I'm 62 to get SS and go per diem only.
I started to paint the guest and master bathroom. I finished the guest bathroom on Thurs and started the master bathroom yesterday and today. I will start on another quilt project and work on the quilt on my short-arm this week.
The weather is going to be cool and rainy next week. Perfect time to sew/quilt.

Mandy

Pets bring some much joy and happiness into our lives. They are alway their for you with unconditional love. Yesterday, we lost our Golden Retriever, Mandy. We got her when she was 6 weeks old. She would have celebrated her 11th Birthday on May 15. She had a possible brain tumor for the last 3 months. It has been so hard to see her health decline but had to made the hard decision to let her go to dog heaven.
She was a very sweet and loving girl. She loved to play ball and swim. We went camping in our 5th wheel she was always ready to go with us anywhere. She loved the big red truck. She knew the word GO. She would always greet you at the door with her tail wagging and gentle place her mouth in my hand(like a kiss) She would lay by my quilt studio when I was sewing.
We have some many happy memories of her that will live in our heart forever. She loved us and we loved her so much. I LOVE YOU Mandy.

Happy Birthday

Happy 59th Birthday to me. Last night we went to see Randy Travis with Roger, Karen, Paige, Lee, and Mike at Spirit Mountain casino. We ate at the buffet and I got an Old fashion cake to celebrate our B-Day(Mike and me April 24). Everyone enjoyed the buffet and concert.
Wayne treated me to lunch at Golden Valley Brewery in McMinnville. I went to Boesma's for my B-Day gift to myself. I got 2 different fabrics with a 25% off for my B-Day. I got several B-Day cards and a gift bag from Roger and Karen. It has been a nice B-Day!!!

Quilting Time

I have gotten alot of quilting time in this week. It has been fun making a small wall hanging with turtle materical. I went out of my comfort zone with no pattern. I found out I do much better with following a pattern. The turtle quilt is a little different but I like it.
I put the quilt I was working on the quilt machine yesterday. The pattern is called Prism. I used alot of of bright materical from my stash. I will start quilting on it this weekend.
I made a small quilt to hang in the bedroom with materical from Moda called Priscilla. This materical came out in 2004. I have alot of it so decided to make 2 small quilts to hang over our bed. I will piece the second quilt next week.
It suppose to be a nice weekend. We are going over to coast(Lincoln City) Saturday.

Aloha and Happy Easter

We got back home on Thursday/Friday from a wonderful Kauai vacation. We found a great beach on the north shore called Anini Beach. We went snorkleing 3 days there and saw alot of beautiful fish and 3-4 Hawaiian green sea turtles. There is a huge reef(2 miles long) so it was protected from the waves. There was a High wind and surf warning during those days. It was unbelieveable to see the sea turtles swimming on the ocean floor and in the reef. I got a quilt kit with turtles. I can't wait to start making it. We miss the sunny and warm temp(upper 70's) in Hawaii. It has been rainy and cool (40-50's). We are enjoying a nice Easter with church and then a ham and fixings at home. Back to work tomorrow and then off for 4 days. Will start a new quilt project and put the quilt I finished on the short arm machine to quilt.
