I have gotten alot of quilting time in this week. It has been fun making a small wall hanging with turtle materical. I went out of my comfort zone with no pattern. I found out I do much better with following a pattern. The turtle quilt is a little different but I like it.
I put the quilt I was working on the quilt machine yesterday. The pattern is called Prism. I used alot of of bright materical from my stash. I will start quilting on it this weekend.
I made a small quilt to hang in the bedroom with materical from Moda called Priscilla. This materical came out in 2004. I have alot of it so decided to make 2 small quilts to hang over our bed. I will piece the second quilt next week.
It suppose to be a nice weekend. We are going over to coast(Lincoln City) Saturday.

Aloha and Happy Easter
We got back home on Thursday/Friday from a wonderful Kauai vacation. We found a great beach on the north shore called Anini Beach. We went snorkleing 3 days there and saw alot of beautiful fish and 3-4 Hawaiian green sea turtles. There is a huge reef(2 miles long) so it was protected from the waves. There was a High wind and surf warning during those days. It was unbelieveable to see the sea turtles swimming on the ocean floor and in the reef. I got a quilt kit with turtles. I can't wait to start making it. We miss the sunny and warm temp(upper 70's) in Hawaii. It has been rainy and cool (40-50's). We are enjoying a nice Easter with church and then a ham and fixings at home. Back to work tomorrow and then off for 4 days. Will start a new quilt project and put the quilt I finished on the short arm machine to quilt.

Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii
Yesterday we had a great time in paradise. We went snorkeling at Poipu Beach. On the beach, was a Hawaiian monk seal which is endangered species. There are only 1,000 of these seals in the Hawaiian islands with about 30-40 in Kauai. The area was roped off because it is illegal to get near them. It was exciting to see on of them. The snorkeling was great with alot of different fish.
We went to the quilt store called Kapaia Stitchery in Lihue. It was a wonderful store with Hawaiian quilting, Hawaiian fabric, patterns etc. Lisa Boyer has several patterns in the shop. She lives in Kauai. She wrote 2 books called That Dorky Homemade Look-Quilting Lessons from a Parallel Universe and Stash Envy. I got a kit of Baby Honu and pattern called Swimmies. I got some turtle batik and turtle fabric. They had a huge white and blue Hawaiian quilt in one window and a quilt called Postcards from Hawaii(which is a Lisa Boyer pattern).
We are going to the Waimea Canyon and West shore today.

Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii
We arrived to Kauai on Wednesday from Portland to San Franciso (1 1/2 hrs) and then San Francisco to Lihue, Hawaii ( 5 1/2 hrs). Hawaii isn't on daylight saving so we gained 3 hrs. We were tired but glad to arrive in paradise. We had a great dinner that night. Yesterday, we went snorkeling at Lydgate Park which has a protected area to view alot of different fish. We checked out Poipu
Beach for another snorkel area. We saw a huge green turtle on the beach. Today we drove up to the North shore and found a perfect beach called Anini Beach to snokel. We will go to Poipu Beach tomorrow and then check out the quilt shop called Kapalia Stitchery. It is sunny and warm upper 70's. Aloha

Fun Day at EE Schenck's in Portland
Paige and I went to EE Schenck's in Portland,OR today. It is a huge warehouse with fabric, notions, patterns, books, batting etc. I found several patterns, 2 books, buttons and tin containers. I didn't get any fabric this time. They serve a free sack lunch which was good. I meet the owner of the quilt store called Joy of Quilting in Florence,OR. Paige is one of my quilting friends that has a business. We had a great day shopping.

Happy Quilting
Spring time is a round the corner and I finished by Spring Blooms wall hanging yesterday. I have it hanging on the wall between the living room and family room. I finished putting on star buttons on the Liberty House. Last Sept Paige and I went to the Northwest Quilting Expo and got some North by Northwest by Thimbleberries. I finished making a large tablerunner called Oregon Trail with some of this fabric. I will post pictures of them in the next posting.
First day of Spring is March 20 which is National Quilting Day. I will start another quilt project before leaving to go to Kauai, Hawaii on March 24. I'm looking forward to visiting 2 quilt shops there.
