Tragedy in Colorado
It was heart breaking to hear of any shooting in CO. This time in a movie theatre near what was called the Aurora Mall. We lived in Aurora for 16 years about 2 miles from the mall. They built the theatre after we left in 2001. This state has been thru 2 school shootings which we were living in CO during Columbine. My husband was a teacher and I worked at Porter Hospital.
It is so hard to understand why someone would kill so many people and planned it out. We pray for our nation and for the wonderful people of CO. There are in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time.

New Beginings
I wrote a blog in March about having problems with work. I have been a RN for 38 years. The last 2 years have been very difficult due to workload/lack of support. This week, I decided to resign after having irreconcilable differences.I feel very burned out and need a huge break. I feel this is a new begining for me. I want to start my our quilting business. I can decide if I want to stay in nursing and what my options are for it. I'm very thankful that I have a supportive husband. I'm so glad I have quilting in my life.

Wish I Was There
I wish I was at the Sisters Quilt Show yesterday. I had to work this weekend but next year plan to go all week for classes and the show. It will be great to go per diem and make my own schedule(4 days a month). I'm planning on getting a campsite in Tumalo State Park which you can reserve 8 months before July. I'm looking at several blogs to see about the quilt show. It sounds like it rained late afternoon which has happened only one other time, I think. Can't wait until next years Quilt Affair and Show. Happy Quilting!!

My Family
I want to post pictures of my family. My brother, Randy and my sister-in-law Mary. They live in Wilton, CA which is south of Sacramento. This picture was taken at their house in May. The other guy is my husband Wayne. Our kids are "Sassy" the cat and "Maddie" the golden retreiver. We have a house on 6 acres which is our paradise. We are so lucky have moved here 11 years ago from CO. It is hard to see and hear about the wildfires in CO because we lived there for over 22+ years.
Happy July
It is 6 months from today that I will go per diem at work. I have worked as a nurse for 38 years most full time. I have been working part time since 2002. I will be able to draw SS in April 2013. It is more money but no benefits with per diem. I have to sign up for only 4 days a month(8 or 12 hour shift) The 4 days includes one weekend. You have to do 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday. In the next 6 months, we have to check about insurance, how much you can make with drawing SS and starting a quilting business. I'm really looking forward to have more flex time and to be able to go camping more next year. I really want to expand on quilting and looking forward to start a computerized quilting service.
Hopefully, this month I can get back to making several quilts and using my quilt machine. Happy 4th of July!!

Happy Summer
It is hard to believe that June is always over and 4th of July is next Wed. I did get my quilt called Hokey Pokey done on the quilt machine. I put the binding on it last week and will work on it on our camping trip to South Beach State Park this coming week(Mon-Thurs). This is our 1st camping trip. We have never celebrated the 4th of July over at the coast. The fireworks are going to be on a barge in the middle of the bay at Newport.
I did take a class at Grandma's Attic on June 1 called Applefest which was paper piecing. I had hope to get back to making the blocks this week but no luck due to work, guild meeting and gardening. I will take pictures of my new quilt.
I have a new blog called Quilting at Mistletoe Hollow which is going to be about starting my computerized quilting service. I will start writing on it next month.
In May we went to see my brother, Randy and my sister-in-law, Mary in Wilton,CA. Mary is a quilter and is doing more quilt art. She made a quilt from Ruth McDowell class last year at Asilomar. She finished it this year to show her at Asilomar this year. She called it The Red Chair. It is so beautiful. I will post a few pictures of it.
