Quilt/Sew Day

Friday, we had our 1st Quilt/Sew Day of 2010. I have 2 neighbors( Karen and Paige) that come over to my house for the day to sew/quilt their projects. We started this one day of the month last year and it has been alot of fun. I had tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwich and choc chip cookies for our lunch. Next month Paige will bring lunch. I worked on my ONLY UFO I didn't start and finish. I took a class at Sisters OR in 2004 and the class was to overwhelming for a new quilter. I decided to finish it. I'm going to take a class in July at Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and may show this quilt in a show and tell. I'm a more confident quilter now. Karen made a apron for her granddaughter and Paige worked on UFO's. We had a great day.

Julie&Julia

I watched the movie Julie&Julia last week. It is 2 true stories about Julie Powell writing a blog about cooking every recipe in Julia Childs book for a year and the life of Julia Childs. It was an amazing stories of 2 women that had a passion for cooking. I love to cook too.
I'm glad I start this blog about my passion for quilting. January is a boring depressing month. I started a new project this week. It was great to get back into my studio and sew. Everyone should have a passion for doing something in their life.

Happy Quilting New Year 2010

Happy New Year 2010. We celebrated Wayne's B-Day yesterday by going to Red Lobster for dinner. He is going to be my blog master for photos. He likes to be the Quilting Police but he really is supportive husband. Next week will start a new project. I'm ready to sewing and quilting after the holidays.

Happy Quilting

I was thinking about how did I get my start in quilting. My husband and I decided to semiretire in 2001. We lived in the Denver area for 20 years and was ready for country living. We decided to move to Oregon after visiting here several times. We found a small town named Dallas, OR which is 15 miles west of Salem. We purchased a home with 6 acres.
My brother and his wife live near Sacramento,CA. Mary has been a quilter for several years. She told me that I would love quilting. She encouraged me to take a basic quilting class which I did in April 2003. We have a great quilt store in Dallas called Grandma's Attic. I took a 5 week class and was hooked on quilting. I watched Alex Anderson Simple Quilts every day. I went to my 1st Quilt show while I was taking my basis quilting class. I set a goal to enter the show in 2 years. I joined the Mid Valley Quilt Guild in Salem.
My quilting goals for myself were to:
1) Attend a Quilts Shows
2) Visit quilt stores everywhere
3) Visit museum that display quilts
Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, Golden CO, New England Quilt Museum Lowell,MA La Connor Quilt and Textile Museum, La Connor, WA
4) Attend Quilting Expo, Festival etc.
NW Quilting Expo, Portland OR, Sewing Expo, Pullallup WA, Pacific International Quilt Festival Santa Clara CA, Houston Quilt Festival Houston TX
5) Take classes to learn more about quilting
6) Enter my quilt in a show ect.
Polk County Fair, Oregon State Fair, Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, Sisters OR, and my quild quilt show
7) No UFO's I finish every quilt I make.

I have decided to start a blog today about quilting. I took my first quilting class in 2003 at Grandma's Attic in Dallas,Oregon. It has been my love and passion since that time. I will write more at a later time. I'm looking forward to writing about quilting and quilting activities
