Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show July 13, 2013

I got up early to go to the Quilt Show. I got to see the fire dept hanging the quilts on the side of the Stitching Post. I did a few pictures before my camera battery went dead. I enjoyed seeing as many quilts as possible. The quilts are hanging all over town. It is impossible to see all the quilts. Here are a few pictures of the 38th Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show:

Melinda Bula "Hibiscus" class in Sisters

Here are a few more pictures from the class. The yellow hibiscus is my work in progress.

Melinda Bula "Hibiscus" class at Sisters

Melinda is a fabulous teacher and loves what she does which is art. It is a fun class and to go at your own pace. She and her husband was in Hawaii the same time we were in Febr but on different islands(Hawaii-Melinda and Priscilla-Maui). I love seeing a lot the beautiful flowers in Hawaii. I love the hibiscus and wanted to do a yellow one. Here are more pictures of Melinda's Hibiscus class:

Sisters Quilt Show Week

Last Saturday was the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. The week before the show are classes on all types of quilting with national teachers. We drove up on Sunday to stay at Tumalo State Park for a week. It is between Sisters and Bend. I took a 2 day class(Mon&Tues) with Melinda Bula "Hibiscus". I took her 2 day class "Zinnia" class in 2011 at Sisters. It was a fun 2 days with a total of 19 quilters. Everyone had a different color Hibiscus. Here is a few pictures of the class.

Happy Summer

It is hard to believe that June is almost over and July 4th is next week. It has been busy with having family at the beginning of June. I haven't gotten much quilting done. I did make a table runner using Accuquilt and a pattern from the 100 blocks Quiltmaker. I have 2 customer quilts that I'm doing now. My friend Shari has a comfort quilt(charity) for the guild and her pirate quilt. More postings on them later. I will quilt the table runner after I'm done with Shari's quilts. Next month, I'm going to Sisters for a week. I'm taking Melinda Bula 2 day class at Quiltfaire. The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is July 13. We are staying at Tumalo State Park which is between Sisters and Bend. We plan to explore Central Oregon more on this trip. Here is a picture of our camping trip to Ft Stevens State Park with our family.

Windfall

I took a class on April 20 with Karla Alexander at Greenbaum's. She has a line of patterns and rulers. There were about 15 quilters doing different patterns with her rulers. I had the ruler to do her pattern called Windfall. I had done several blocks before I got to class so I could ask for help if I needed it. I had learned how to sew curves from my class with Hilde Morin last summer called Curves. I made my quilt smaller by a row. I was able to finish the quilt this month. The quilt design is called Flamingo Sunset by Anne Bright designs. I finished the binding at Detroit Lake last week and was able to take pictures of it. Here are a few pictures of the quilt.

Shortcake

This is a pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew called "Shortcake". I found the pattern at Winter Retreat in Newport with Greenbaum's. I had jelly rolls which was perfect. I did buy the white fabric at the retreat. I didn't finish the quilt until March/April and quilted it in May. The quilt pattern is called Denali by Anne Bright designs. I love her E2E designs. I took this quilt to Detroit Lake last week. I remember that each campsite had a rail fence and thought this would be perfect to take pictures of it. I was lucky that Monday was a perfect day to do my photo shoot. Here are some pictures of the quilt.
